Multinationals & Regulatory

Corporate immigration and regulatory counsel for multinationals in Brazil

I help foreign companies entering or already operating in Brazil meet local requirements without slowing the business down.

Entering Brazil means several legal questions arrive at once: entity structure, hiring, executive visas, licenses and data protection. I advise multinationals across these fronts, helping headquarters understand Brazilian requirements and helping the local team keep operations compliant day to day.

Corporate immigration compliance is a core part of this work. That means making sure foreign employees hold the right authorization, planning executive transfers well ahead of start dates, and tracking renewals so none slip through. I also cover the fundamentals of Brazil’s data protection law, the LGPD (Lei 13.709/2018), as they apply to everyday operations.

FAQ

Common questions

Can a foreign executive start working in Brazil before the permit is issued?

As a general rule, paid work in Brazil requires the appropriate immigration authorization first. Starting early can create problems for both the individual and the company. Planning the transfer in advance is the safest approach, and a consultation can help set a realistic timeline.

Does the LGPD apply to companies based outside Brazil?

It can. The LGPD may reach foreign companies that process personal data of people in Brazil or offer goods and services here, among other situations. Each operation needs its own review to identify which obligations actually apply.

Where should a company start when entering the Brazilian market?

Usually by deciding on the operating model, whether a subsidiary, a distributor or a local representative, since that choice drives everything else. Registrations, hiring and any sector licenses follow from there.
